The SRC launched its first-ever summer internship program in 2025. It was a springboard for diverse research projects, such as ultrasound robotics for remote scanning, tactile sensing E-skins, and underwater manipulation. In this video, we’re taking a moment to thank our 2025 Summer Interns!

"The SRC is marking the 10th Anniversary of a major milestone for underwater robotics: the maiden expedition of OceanOne to La Lune. On April 15, 2016, OceanOne recovered a beautiful 1664 Catalan Vase and brought it to the deck in one piece!

At a Stanford Liu Lecture last week, digital artist Mike Winkelmann (Beeple) reflected on "Regular Animals", "Everydays", and more in advance of his new exhibition BEEPLE: / INFINITE_LOOP. After the lecture, Steve Cousins and Michelle Baldonado gave Beeple and his family a tour of the SRC.

The SRC recently welcomed Zackory Erickson, Assistant Professor at The Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, who gave a talk titled “Robot Learning and Wearable Interfaces in Pursuit of Robotic Caregivers.”

Researchers, including Mac Schwager, at Stanford have created an algorithm that can take a design plan for a particular product and figure out the most efficient way to manufacture it with a team of robots. Their work was published recently in the journal Robotics and Autonomous Systems.

The SRC team visited the Exploratorium’s new exhibit, Adventures in AI, which featured the work of Dr. Catie Cuan: "Manifold," an interactive 9-foot-tall robotic hand. Next, we went to the SFMOMA to see "Fortuna and the Immortality Garden (Machine)," an installation by artist Kara Walker.
