I remember telling our babysitter how we handled date rape so another girl wouldn’t suffer the same fate & she asked me about reporting it to the Police and I laughed and said, you mean the generation who shirked their basic parenting responsibilities? No honey, we knew we were on our own.

Birdcage is my emotional support movie….. I saw it opening night in a tiny movie theater and there are seasons of my life when this gem is on repeat.

Texas exile here, this isn’t new in Texas. It’s just new knowledge outside of the state now. Texas fought desegregating schools until the 1970’s and many rural districts have never severed ties with prayer in schools.

So, for those of born and raised in Texas, this is just the act of making something official that Texas Public Schools have always done….blurred the lines between church and state. This isn’t new and it isn’t a comeback..people are just more aware of it.

I remember watching the local news and seeing these Executives carrying their boxes and crying and my dad, a construction plumber, saying, no one gave a sh*t when blue collar guys lost their jobs but we’re showing these guys on the news? I learned right then that there were different rules…..

It truly was that amazing….oh and just going over to each other’s apartments/houses and planning on just doing nothing while talking about tons of things: books, movies, music……we just enjoyed being connected
