Being cute in the backrooms

Loved the Backrooms movie!! It put into visuals a deep feeling I’ve had for most of my life and struggle to put into words. We’re all trapped in the Backrooms of our own (and humanity’s) creation

I believe fraternity hazing and military hazing and sports team hazing where men abuse each other is acclimating them into a broader culture of abuse where they will then believe it is their right to abuse other more vulnerable people. It’s so insidious. And that’s also why I think men defend it

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

A truly heinous man has doxxed the Cornell victim on X and the comments are predictably vile. Based on countless interviews I’ve done with survivors, the trauma they are subjected to for coming forward is oftentimes even worse than the initial trauma they experienced. There is no real justice system

"The Cornell 7" and "the 7 Cornell students accused of sexual misconduct" are both sly turns of phrase to distract people from the fact that there where upwards of 50 people in the group chat they planned the rape in.

We live in a society that punishes people who are assaulted. We question them, we shame them, we disbelieve them. Many survivors instinctively do that societal work for us. Survivors question themselves, they shame themselves, they don't believe their own version of events. We've trained them!
Just a reminder that people don’t always realize they were raped in the immediate aftermath. It can take hours, days, months, and even years to realize you were raped, and it doesn’t make it any less true. There are many kinds of responses, including fawning and trying to appease your rapist

All of this. I also want to add that, in my research, I found that a lot of “inconsistencies” in a victim’s story actually came from gender bias affecting investigators’ record keeping and interview methods.

survivors are also frequently encouraged to "speak out" and "start conversations" in order to "change the world" but we receive nothing but harrassment, suspicion, and hate for doing so. i grieve so often for the girl i was during MeToo who truly believed that things were soon to get better.

I can’t do the My 9 Games thing, I love too many games in too many different ways. I’d need to do at least 3 of them lol

Two of my all-timers are Outer Wilds and Lethal Company, but they do not go on the same list. That’s like putting smoked salmon and jalapeño poppers on my list of favorite foods

Amnesia: The Bunker was a fantastic experience, so glad I got around to playing it!! I loved every second of my first playthrough and wanted to start over as soon as I was done. One of those video games that reminds me how much I love video games

Lists like these are always BS but ONE animated show is laughable

I could've never imagined working with such a spectacular & skilled crew, making something so gruesome & beautiful, which is what I love from the horror genre. So proud of our team & cast. And to those waiting, hope you enjoy, or at the very least, hope it makes you flinch.

Political winds do not only flow from voters to politicians, they go in reverse as well.

Democrats running ads like these signal to the general public and their voter base that this issue now has support by both parties, and that hating trans people is publicly acceptable.

They do harm to us.

“No, I don’t want kids getting surgeries to change genders, or men in girls bathrooms.”

Dems replaced action on trans rights with hollow statements, then dropped those statements, then embraced anti-trans rhetoric. Now supporting anti-trans laws and blocking pro-trans ones.

At every step the "they're betraying us" radicals were correct and "be patient" liberals were completely wrong.

Kind of mixed on Amnesia Rebirth so far. Environments and atmosphere are mostly fantastic. Hub / puzzle levels are great, linear levels are pretty weak. Resource management gets more frustrating than tense at times. The story has a bit too much going on & the pacing is VERY weird early on

There's definitely no *single* game!! I grew up loving classic Sonic and Disney games on Genesis, Mario Kart 64 and Pokemon Red at age 7 made gaming my biggest life interest, and Banjo Kazooie completely altered my brain chemistry
What's your "origin" video game?

Most gamers have a lot of favorite games, sure, but there's always one that basically 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 you.

I'm talking about the game that flipped that little switch in your brain and made into a life-long gamer.

So, which game is 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨?

Cis people see trans people upset about their rights being stripped as “performative outrage” because they often can’t understand what it’s like to genuinely give a fuck about trans people. Their allyship is performative and therefore so must be our anger over attacks against us.
