ScotGov made that clear when they proposed exempting them

I dont have much time for LR generally but the MMR thing is so stupid. For a start, though MMR is exempt from rent controls, they aren't allowed to increase their rent beyond the median of the local market. So if there is a rent control area in the local market, it limits increases in the median

I'm not sure i can remember Scotland domnating a decent team the way they dominated Slovenia in the 2nd half. It was very good

My only concern is Billy Gilmour's expensive Italian haricut that you absolutely could not safely walk through Ardrossan with

Im both excited and scared to witness this new day dawning today

I don't think that's likely though. Glasgow City Region already exists and i'd be surprised if it wasn't one of the new regional councils

I'm just hoping there is an Ayrshire Free State and they don't try to recreate Strathclyde Region

There are women only comps but not men only. Most competitons are 'open' and anyone can play, but there are some additional women only competitions to try and encourage more women to play competitive chess cause so few do

i always assumed it was cause half the continent had lived under communism so they were pretty set against the whole "government can just take your property away" stuff

you might not but the european convention of human rights does
September 11, 2026 at 2:22 PM
though im not claiming there is an easy way to legislate for that

Thing is i think a lot of the general public are more concerned with the "we dont know how long you'll hang on for, but you'll need constant care and won't recognise your family" scenario than the "you have 4 months to live" one. And to them the proposals dont go far enough, not too far

AI really is the gift that keeps on giving. Look how it can free you from flexible work practices and allow you to spend mandatory time in the office

your body is holding up well though. It's easy to get injured when you are increasing training volume a lot

The early improvements when you are just starting to run regularly are great. You feel like you are getting better every time you lace up your shoes. You enter your 2nd race and take 10+ minutes off your first time. Then after a while it's 6 months hard training to shave a few more seconds off

like jury duty but we select 12 people that need to do a subcrawl with a random msp

And the usual argument about how if rent controls make a private landlord sell up then that's a good thing, doesn't work. It's not a good thing if housing assocs are forced to sell midmarket rent properties!
August 20, 2026 at 10:51 AM
The LR obsession with including MMR in rent controls is weird. Non-profit HAs arent jacking up rents for fun - the cost of construction and repairs has risen massively.

If you include them in controls you stop them raising funds to build more MMR. And from maintaining their existing stock properly
