FACTCHECK: UK Conservatives double the ‘cost of net-zero’ after spreadsheet blunder

The Tory "Right Way" booklet makes an erroneous claim about the cost of cutting emissions, possibly taken from a Jan26 thinktank report, and deffo the most idiotic error I've seen for a while 🧵

I’m an RNLI volunteer crew member and I invite her to get on a plane from her hideout in Dubai and say that to my face here in the UK
Let me cut through the BS platitude in Isabelle Oakshott’s latest vile post and summaries what she’s claiming

“RNLI are bringing illegal immigrants from France to Britain for the Nothing to do with saving lives. The RNLI is aiding and abetting the invasion of our country, they are your enemy”

Liar.

Small boat crossings peaked under Johnson in 2022 reaching 46,000 in 2022.

In current year they are 18,565 and falling.

Also prior to Boris Johnson's Brexit there were none.

Good.
Now arrest those who were with him for conspiracy, and then arrest those who tried to set fire to a hotel for arson.

And then proscribe the group as a terrorist organisation. Which is what you are if you use violence for political ends.

MPs call for emergency legislation for public control of Thames Water, let govt restore it and resell.

Hedge funds want to takeover TW, want exemption from penalties for breaking laws.

Neither will do.

Europe’s strength comes from countries choosing to act together.

Today Ursula von der Leyen set out a vision of a Europe with the collective strength to defend its democracy, prosperity and shared future.

The UK belongs in that European future.

Let me get this right: if you're a retired vicar and peacefully hold up a sign opposing genocide, you're a terrorist.

But if 1200 morons put on balaclavas and close half of Dover to stop people *escaping* genocide, police "constructively engage."

Is that it?

By then, the damage will be done. But we can still prevent a full-blown democratic crisis.

We agree with the Guardian: it's time to act.
