Was looking up to see if there was a London East Asia Film Festival this year but the company behind it has been wound up so guess that's a no. Was about the only place to see Taiwanese films in a cinema too.

Nice to see the excellent Legacy in the Dust documentary about Dalston's Four Aces club, which later became Labrynth, get a wider showing on Sky Arts. On Now TV or showing again on Sunday at 10:15pm.

Bit worn out by building stuff so not been posting much. Anyway, this is my favourite recent photo.

Train back last night stopped briefly outside Faversham by the cemetery, where a cat was sitting on one of the graves.

In today's terrible wildlife photography... Two coots on a raft apparently unperturbed at the speed with which it was heading down the flood relief channel. And a coot family in the reeds.

30 years today Webdevelopment Ltd was incorporated, which not long after became Mediasurface, the UK's first web content management software company. Was supposed to float on the LSE at what the press said was going to be a billion pound valuation but then the dotcom crash got in the way.

Trying to remember the last time I saw a multi-screen video installation. Was an interesting piece on crypto mining and its exploitation of abandoned hydro schemes in China, amongst related themes. At the huge new M+ arts centre in West Kowloon, which has a well thought out mix of exhibitions.

From sunny Kaohsiung to a misty Hong Kong.
The view from Cijin lighthouse with the harbour and city on the left, notably with the two-legged Tungtex building. In the middle are a ragtag bunch of buildings in various colours and just visible on the top right the sea. A view of Hong Kong island from the Star Ferry, with the exhibition centre in the middle and clouds just hiding the top of the building next to it. In the middle are slightly choppy waves and a capstan with a rope on top of it in front. It's all a bit grey.

Food edition. All from small nearby places.
"Steak" - served up on a hot plate with noodles in tomato sauce, a veg and a fried egg. Fried mackerel fish noodle soup. Goat in a sauce served up on rice. Seafood noodle soup with squid, prawns and clams plus sides of deep fried prawns, squid pancake and deep fried squid heads.

Kaohsiung main station lower concourse, with stone-like ceiling panels, a large skylight in the centre, with right in the middle some organ pipes for what looks like an art installation. A local train carriage with a blue and yellow "Real rail" wraparound with cartoon characters. An older Hamasen to Cijin ferry, seen through the back of one of the other ferries. A tram arriving at a light rail station, with grass growing between the tracks and people waiting on the opposite platform. The trams are battery powered with quick overhead charging at each station.

Always like Taiwan's somewhat precariously balanced pigeon lofts. This one is quite restrained compared to some. Big gambling industry on the pigeons.

Chaozhou night market near Pingtung.
A throng of people in the centre with banners at angles sticking out from stalls which have bright lights. A man and a girl sit at pinball / pachinko type games in a stall on the left while the stall on the right sells sugar-glazed strawberries and other fruit on sticks. Large pans cooking egg pancakes, soup and noodles at a stall. This would have been a better photo but I stuck my finger over the lens... Takoyaki-like baby octopus snacks being cooked in trays.

Sanfong Jhong St market last night, the place to go for New Year things and just about anything that can be dried: plants, meat, fish, seafood, seeds.
Entrance to the market with lots of people in front, a stall behind selling New Year things and bright lights from a shop on the right with bags of dried goods. A woman in front of a stall where everything is red with gold: lanterns, banners and hanging things.
