Another old favorite! This was the first piece where I used my Derwent Drawing pencils, and quickly concluded that while they are excellent on black and colored paper, they aren't my favorite on white...

Seriously, though - if you draw on black, the Chinese White is a must-have.

A large, gray-brown owl with bright yellow eyes, erect ear-tufts, and finely-barred belly and lower breast. The default large owl throughout its range; occurrs in a broad range of lightly-wooded habitats, including suburbia. The typical call is a soft, booming “whooo-whooo” or “whoo-are-you?”.

What if I told you I probably havent released even 1/4 of the photos from one of my absolute favorite events of the whole year? Thunderstorms over Canyonlands NP are an unmatched experience.

Two lightning bolts strike the opposite rim of a massive canyon in Canyonlands NP and illuminate the clouds, rain, and terrain. Shot from Deadhorse Point Overlook, the Colorado River is visible in the bottom of the canyon and countless miles of jagged, layered rock and terrain features fill the landscape. Between the two bolts a 4x4 road into the bottom of the canyon is visible. A large bolt in center frame strikes the opposite rim of the canyon in Canyonlands National Park and illuminates the clouds and terrain, another bolt just out of the right of frame also casts light into the scene. The far side of the canyon is dynamically lit between the shadowed faces of canyonwall away from the bolt and the bright ones facing it, with most of the closer features near completely in shadow. 4 massive branching cloud to ground lightning bolts strike the terrain on the far side of Canyonlands NP. Two of the bolts on the right are nearly in the clear air and are visible up and out of frame, while the left one cuts off at the cloud base. Parts of the far canyon wall are illuminated, and the terrain features in the middle are mostly shadowed. Some of the near side of the canyon fills the right half of the foreground with the lightning illuminating the wet and craggy rock and scattered plant life. Two lightning bolts strike the opposite rim of Canyonlands NP and illuminate the clouds and terrain. Shot from Deadhorse Point Overlook, the red hued Colorado River is visible in the bottom of the canyon and countless miles of jagged, layered rock and terrain features fill the landscape. To the left of the bolts a 4x4 road into the bottom of the canyon is visible as well as scattered pieces of it along the river in the canyon below.
