This is an excellent contribution in parliament regarding the masked thugs blocking UK ports
Masked thugs turning up to intimidate and cause disorder have no place on our streets.

I am asking whether our laws are fit for purpose when it comes to groups that organise intimidation and disorder. Political disagreement is part of democracy. Violence and intimidation are not.

Great to see several MPs calling for action

Here @sianberry.bsky.social calls for political action against the masked men in the streets, fascist policies, anti migrant propaganda and lies. 👏
The backdrop to the horrific scenes in Dover and Portsmouth is Reform encouraging fear and division and the Home Office helping with hostile policies.

So now we have massed fascists dressed in black on our streets. The Govt must name hard right fascism and then stand up to it.

A Reform government would force schools to sing the National Anthem and if they don't oblige parents will be encouraged to report them to the authorities.

Yeah that's not like really scary and authoritarian

2) and 3) are intimately linked, in that the BBC (the organisation that really matters in the modern environment) treats 'claims by rival parties' as the operating frame for how it covers everything.

The failure from Labour and the Conservatives to say 'this stuff is bad' is really, really bad.
So in one week:

1) Reform get stung for dodgy finances, and the regulators play pass the parcel about enforcement

2) Farage announces plans to largely dismantle independent scrutiny of govt, and barely any press discussion of it

3) Masked thugs blockade a port, with narry a word from senior govt

Like a medieval king, Farage threatens judges, civil servants, parliament to obey him or else.

Will declare a state of emergency, make MPs sit 24 hours a day for six days a week until he gets his way.

Already committed to withdraw human rights, equality, employment rights laws, and more.

- leave the ECHR

- repeal the Equality Act

- Strip back workers rights

- Lift restrictions on exploitative zero-hours contracts

- repeal the Renters’ Rights Act which abolishes no fault evictions
