The new Prime Minister is writing a "10-year plan" for the UK. The arts & culture MUST be part of it. I've signed @campaignforthearts.org's petition urging @andyburnham.bsky.social to revitalise the arts – to revitalise the whole nation 🌱 Join me: www.campaignforthearts.org/petitions/10-year-plan/

The British broadcasters sitting on exactly the spot from which, 250 years ago, the British army surveyed Manhattan before launching an amphibious assault which they hoped would crush Washington’s army. And the Revolution.

Blessed are the peacemakers, those who reconcile conflict and hate: they are indeed the sons and daughters of God.

I haven’t watched Newsnight in a while. I lasted 5 minutes. People talking over each other. I learnt nothing new. Katie Razzle ending the row (not a debate) saying there would be no agreement when the entire premise of the piece was just to set up total opposition. Lots of heat- no light.

He protects Israel, his servant,
remembering his mercy,
the mercy promised to our fathers,

He casts the mighty from their thrones
and raises the lowly.
He fills the starving with good things,
sends the rich away empty.

His mercy is from age to age,
on those who fear him.
He puts forth his arm in strength
and scatters the proud-hearted.

henceforth all ages will call me blessed.
The Almighty works marvels for me.
Holy his name!
