Boring you and myself. But on a different app.
Good article from Sam in The Moonraker today on IH’s change of approach with the fans. Personally I loathe the sentimentality, the cheap emotional neediness of football crowds. But if a bit of pseudo Paolo chest beating gets the #stfc crowd on-side, I will happily ignore it.

The #stfc reaction to Mabete being sent on loan for much-needed games is strange in many ways but the weirdest is certainly the repeated stat about goals conceded while he is on the pitch.

Can’t believe #stfc have signed the new Fil Mabete when we’ve still got the old Fil Mabete kicking around the place.

It is an inversion of the traditional phrase, but the #stfc failure seems to have many fathers - although the weirdest seems to be to blame Mildy for coaching goalkeepers and looking at an iPad.

I’m normally Dr Pangloss, compared to most #stfc fans on the internet, but I’m worried about today. It is possible but blimey, it would take a number of stars to align.

Well, that was unrelenting awful #stfc. Perhaps the only positive was that it certainly cleared up the confusion about if Fil Mabete is ready for league football.

Joel McGregor would like you to get the ball, please.

Made very hard work of that, not helped by injuries and subs but lack of time of the training pitch with too many new boys didn’t help. Ripley and Nichols showed their worth #stfc

It is the one day on which I slightly miss Football Twitter, which was better than here (where the #stfc hashtag is more used by science nerds). But then we aren’t drowning in CSAM and Nazi accounts So swings and racist roundabouts really.

I know it makes me look a bit short termist to get so worried but MC Esher would be struggling to find the perspective in all that #stfc

That’s a bit of a busy day. Bit too much. But the dangle of a possible Citeh away is tempting #stfc

Poor ‘Stonewash’ Shaun H having to dust off his Lighthouse Family records as yet another game falls to the weather. At least Holloway and Hawes provide plenty of length, girth and mirth to fill most of the gaps. #stfc #FACup

Interesting that #Stfc have a new set piece coach, especially as recent games have seen a clear switch to three operating zonally. What is strange though is the Adver article which has nothing to back it up and no name.

Very late at night for a signing but #stfc have done one. A Brentford B winger who has played L1 and L2 on both flanks. Could be interesting.

Seven games? #stfc

Not posting a link to the bad place because you can see the handball pretty clearly in this still. The Gas player pretty much punches it away. #stfc

Tbf to the cruel gods of football. getting Salford away (in the one round they won’t be on telly) was a monumental dry joke that none of us had come up with. #stfc

@talkinghawes.bsky.social Kudos on the half-time mention of Christina Rossetti’s work. Lovely stuff.

Hard not to comment on Tafazolli’s performance, against Cheek, straight off the back of that. Won his one ground duel and four of his six aerials. Most importantly he didn’t give away a single foul. Exactly what was needed. #stfc

With no game until Sat, it feels like time to have a look at Fil Mabete, since he’s playing well. Like a lot of #stfc fans, I got him wrong. Based on his cameo at Oldham & reports from Eastleigh, he was raw. The reality of the late has been a player showing maturity, and who is (mostly) trusted. 1/6

I love Drinan. He’s a force of nature, a perpetual runner of such dreadful persistence. He is also currently scoring plenty of goals, but he’s such an inelegant striker of the ball: stiff, slightly off-balance, always trying to hammer everything. Glorious. #stfc

Looking at the Adver table tonight, it is going to be hard for #stfc to catch Wimbledon.

I know this is a minor complaint with all that goes on at #stfc but please stop using AI to write stuff for the website. Or at least prompt the water-wasting bullshit engine to use the past tense about stuff that has already happened.

Clarke is very interesting on the ‘keeper rule change and learning to defend against different types of strikers. Credit to @talkinghawes.bsky.social also for drawing it out. #stfc
Ollie Clarke pre #STFC v Cambridge (now definitely on). Is he a defender, is he a midfielder? And why is seven currently among his least favourite numbers..

If Smith is out and looking at WhoScored data both Cambridge CBs are 6’3 and 6’5”, so what is the plan? Both FBs stayed at home against ‘Nam so it could be tough to win or benefit from flick ons. Perhaps looking for something more mobile? #stfc
