It's not "incorrect" to treat TTRPG character creation as a guided OC creation tool – heck, it's not even novel; the 1st RPG to frame chargen as a solo minigame came out in like 1977 – but you have to recognise that it's tuned to produce a specific Type of Guy, even in allegedly generic games.
