I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

I just saw this at the website of SRF (Swiss radio and TV). They say that old books go by the pallet-load from Europe to a Canadian AI company, via a temporary storage at the Czech-German boarder with an alleged volume of 700K titles just from Germany and three Mio. worldwide, to later destroy them.
Jagd auf alte Bücher - KI-Firmen kaufen Antiquariate leer – und vernichten die Bücher
Palettenweise wandern alte Bücher aus Europa in die USA. Dahinter stecken mutmasslich KI-Unternehmen – mit System.

This piece gets at one of the many things that concerns me about AI in education: the obsession with everything being more efficient and the loss of desirable difficulties. As humans, we learn when we fail and when we experience something unanticipated.

AI schools like Alpha promise efficiency, but can’t replicate the messy process that helps kids learn
AI schools try to tailor learning to match students’ abilities. But they can’t help young people learn who they are.

My @uoppald.bsky.social student @chloeapter.bsky.social is seeking more participants for her study on autistic people's experiences of being assigned a label like "challenging behaviour"/"problem behaviour" etc (like her). W/ enough participants, all going well, we hope to publish. Could you repost?
How do autistic adults make sense of being assigned the "challenging behaviour" label?

Having AI read graduate names in a commencement ceremony deeply depersonalizes something that is profoundly personal & human for these graduates. Why remove personal recognition & connection at a time when the personal can & should be celebrated? This isn't a technical glitch. This is a poor choice
Sir, another graduation ceremony in which the students booed AI has dropped.

"College graduates were pissed after their school used AI to announce graduates’ names and missed hundreds of names"
