hi everyone, i announced earlier this week my soft retirment on discord

tldr: super burnt out from paid work and the feeling got very aggravated by my patreon being scraped onto pawchive + the whole thing with paypal and stripe

so for the time being im pausing patreon activities and comms
Hello everyone: Today I want to announce my soft retirement. After all that’s happened with the payment processors and having my stuff leaked onto pawchive my general feeling of burnout was aggravated massively. I think I rushed on to getting things like ko-fi or VGen shops set up way too quickly before really having time to think about what I actually wanted to do about it. And after meditating over the week, I finally have the answer. I need a break. Not from art, far from it actually, this is why I'm calling this a soft retirement. I am not really in the best mental state to do commissions or requests anymore. I’ve noticed that some comms have become really difficult to get through and it ends up impacting my general workflow, as mean as it may sound, it is really hard to care about certain commissions sometimes, and I don’t think that's really fair for you guys paying for them. Requests kinda fall into the same category, while they are a lot simpler to do, the sheer volume of them makes them a little unmanageable right now. I also recently decided that I would tackle 3 poll winners, which while I think is a much better system, it is also quite a task, and I find myself already failing to deliver on that promise after only a month of having it set in place. Commission and Patreon money has been helpful on more than one occasion, my monthly salary from my day job is not great but it pays for my monthly needs and I get some money for myself at the end of the day. While I am still not ready to decide what will happen with the patreon, for the time being I can say that it will be a downscale from what im doing right now, and whenever i feel ready to take on commissions again I will probably only be opening shop for the Wing It style I've been bringing up. As of today, I have paused the next billing cycle for the patreon. Other than VGen I have no way of accepting commissions, at least for the time being, so those will stay closed for a while as well. I have been consistently doing monthly commissions for 4-5 years now, and patreon requests for about 2 years. I am now nearing my 30s and it’s just dawned on me how little time I've actually spent on myself. I need the time to be able to spend with my significant other, I need time to focus on more creative projects that are just for fun; like the BLANK concept or the Frickbears mods, I want to be able to get back and tinker with my games ideas, and most of all I want to have the freedom to draw for myself again, so I can better polish my artstyle, so I can experiment with new stuff. I started my art journey because I wanted to share my ideas and show everyone what I wanted to see. And I haven’t been able to do that. So I will still be here, but I’m gonna be doing things on my way and at my own pace. Thank you everyone for all the support over the years, it’s really meant the world to me.

Centrism is such a frustrating thing to tackle in someone because I find a lot of centrists are more focused on nitpicking and finding excuses to absolve themselves of being involved in politics than actually looking at the big picture and who is doing the most harm to society and people right now.
