Super Intelligence doesn't get to the heart of the issue. When large swathes of America are actively hostile to sharing resources with other humans, when our govt is unable to address current infrastructure need (to say nothing of future need), Inhuman Intelligence is going to face hostility.

I saw a whole new side of bravery down here in FL. While explaining the intricacies of how parents can discipline their kids, an officer proudly told me he slaps his tween daughter in the face when she mouths off. I would be ashamed to have failed so hard as a man. Yet here he was owning it proudly.

I've been rereading Baroque Cycle. Halfway in, the protagonist plays his part in the Glorious Revolution and fucks off to a distant shore. When I was younger I found this choice odd but chalked it up as a tie in for the preexisting book. Living through our own mad ruler, I see the appeal.
