I guess this is just sort of the logical endpoint of this administration’s commitment to fulfilling their supporters’s desire to vicariously consume violence done to other people.

i think you can fairly say that the second trump administration is the most racist federal administration since woodrow wilson and honestly i'm not sure that it isn't more racist than wilson's
Tough competition of course, but the Trump admin deciding that white South Africans are the only group of people on earth currently worthy of refugee status has to be the most overtly racist thing any administration has done in decades
Hi folks. If you saw this, you know the administration plans to only accept white South Africans next year. Tomorrow is Congress's formal say before the determination is signed. Please check this brief thread on why I'd like you to speak out for the Afghan people still in limbo...

Every single Republican and gender critical person, including JK Rowling, supports this happening to you. They brag about building a future in which this type of humilating incident is common.
Minnesota teen says server forced her to prove her gender in restaurant bathroom

The 18-year-old high school student alleged the server would not let her exit the Buffalo Wild Wings restroom until she unzipped her hoodie and showed she had breasts.

for far too long, our nation’s senators have enjoyed the trappings of power without actually exercising their power, and i, for one, would like to start seeing more of them speaking in the voice of men and women who command the power of senator
this is what i want and expect out of a senator, it’s why wyden and merkley are the best pair in the senate

The level of disrespect this regime shows to their fellow Americans reaches a level that’s completely incompatible with democracy. These people literally believe they have the right to kill people who disagree with them. It’s disgusting.

it's genuinely wild how the right wing and radical centrists (with cooperation from scotus) have manipulated the public discourse around birthright citizenship to be mostly a discussion about birth tourism and not the thing that conservatives actually care about (children of undocumented immigrants)

Measured by where things stood when its reign began, the Roberts Court is the worst SCOTUS on racial justice. Ever. Worse than Taney or Fuller courts.
With its recent rulings, the Roberts Court has now entirely perverted the purpose of the 15th Amendment, turning an outright ban on racial discrimination in voting into a right to discriminate against black voters. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Indistinguishable from 1870s Redeemer rhetoric about "Negro misrule" and the like.
NEW: U.S. House Rep. Bennie Thompson's "reign of terror" in Mississippi "is over," Gov. Tate Reeves says, urging the ousting of the state's only Black member of Congress through redistricting before the end of 2027.

He made that pronouncement even as he canceled a special session on redistricting.

It’s telling that Alabama took 14 years to implement Brown (you MUST desegregate) and < 14 days to implement Callais (you CAN eliminate Black districts if you call them Democratic, but you don’t HAVE to).

the reason democracy works so well is that we settle issues via the ballot box. once that avenue dries up because one party wants to entrench themselves in power forever, people start looking for alternatives
The problem—which both the GOP and the milquetoast institutionalists seem to not be grappling with here—is that the more you close off avenues of political change through the democratic process, the more you push people to see extra-institutional mechanisms as their only option

This administration has usurped this authority to wage an anti-strategic debacle.

Why has no general resigned over illegal boat strikes, the operation in Venezuela, the Iran War, or an impeding operation against Cuba (apparently)? I think HR McMaster and Dereliction of Duty, a book that supposedly demands it, actually lets them off the hook, offers one explanation. My latest⬇️
