Isn’t it a problem that the president of the United States is so incapable of straightforward communication that he says things that read literally could be construed as inciting an attack on two major cities?

“Let them take out” LA and SD doesn’t mean “Higher gas prices are a small price to pay to keep LA and SD safe.” It means the opposite.

No, I think he meant that LA and SD were a small price to pay for saving other parts of the country. And if he meant something else, he is an appallingly bad communicator.
