The perspective evaluates the feasibility of using microplastics as environmental co-tracers within multi-tracer hydrogeological frameworks, alongside established tools such as water-stable isotopes, major and trace elements, and CECs.

Are microplastics and groundwater related? If microplastics can be found in groundwater, do they a risk to humans and the environment? How the public perceive these risks?
