annoying!!!

first subconscious reaction whenever i see anything now, stuff that my very life force used to feed off of. like crazy impressive visual art or high effort games or anything at all. I've made no changes to how i live my life and i get this curse as a reward
October 5, 2026 at 8:52 AM
that means a lot, I'm glad you share this sentiment
i don't want to get too doomer either but to be honest the thought has crossed my mind that the next game i release will be my last, almost solely due to the state of things. its indescribable how unbecoming it feels for /doubt/ to be the

ugh yeah, that really sucks. the internet has been forever tainted since bots became as prevalent as humans, and all of the "innovations" have only made this problem worse
October 5, 2026 at 8:42 AM
i initially thought itchio just started being super strict with its security verification, and only when i took a trip did i realize i never got the verification check, whereas at home i get it on every new request.
no idea why. neither my housemate nor i do anything weird with the network.

thats what i love to hear 😈
October 3, 2026 at 12:57 AM
i did!!! i had a similar thought when i first saw it, so its fun to hear that :) ive been really enjoying the pieces you've been making there

hi talk droqen!!!

i dont want this account to be nonstop ai depression venting but id be lying if i said it didnt consume a significant chunk of my mind day to day. i hate seeing it i hate thinking about it i hate that its seeping into every tool and application ive been using for years to otherwise do what i love.
October 3, 2026 at 12:40 AM
my efforts have been fruitless, the tool is sprawling and obfuscated, and since it's all served by a network there's no actual archived copies of the editor's files

maybe someone smarter than me could figure it out, but i really don't think there's anyone who cares more about this than i do

several of times throughout the years I've poked around with the (far too hopeful) idea of creating a local snapshot copy of figma, so that i could keep using its design tools without feeling the crushing depression of interfacing around all the ai hell bullshit floating around me as i work
October 3, 2026 at 12:18 AM
i was actually one of the first beta testers, back before figma was even released. i genuinely believe its vector editing workflow and capabilities are second to none, and have been since the start.
(and well, that "and have been" is part of what makes this depressing)
October 3, 2026 at 12:18 AM
i have no idea what this is or why its here, it only appears in recent versions
it seems to me like a big chunk of llm nonsense output. and whether intentional or not, is very relevant to the reason i was digging around here in the first place

for years ive been a proponent of figma's design tools,

this is in `desktop_rust.node` in the figma desktop unpacked asar. it's deep in the middle of otherwise unreadable binary. here's a paste of the whole chunk of readable text: paste.sh/7uI0AwCI#tNi... (pastebin blocked it originally so i had to find an alternative, this seems ok)

thanks for coming to my ted talk. im sure there's a game or two ive forgotten about that would've gone on this list otherwise, but the current list feels like a very good representation of my influences
October 1, 2026 at 9:57 AM
endlessly about it if given the chance. it is by far the strongest example of a game influential to me as a game developer
October 1, 2026 at 9:57 AM
cinco paus is maybe the whole reason i decided to talk about this list in the first place. it feels like the perfect video game for me. it has completely enraptured my mind ever since i first dug into it. im not even sure where i would begin describing what i like so much about it, but i could talk

ESA and SSR are standout examples when i ask myself what my favorite games are. maybe theyve been surpassed over time, but they both embody unforgetable experiences in my life that few games have gotten close to.
i love secrets and i love puzzles, at the very least these each cover those categories
October 1, 2026 at 9:57 AM
frog fractions is an embodiment of a particular characteristic of some games that you'll undoubtedly hear me ramble about if i keep up this account. its sort of become an obsessive trait of my game design tendencies.
im not sure frog fractions specifically inspired this, but it's a great example
October 1, 2026 at 9:57 AM
like many others I've seen sharing this list, cave story was the first time I went "oh you can just make games?"
one of the strongest catalysts for me pursuing gamedev.

spelunky is similar, I probably spent more time in the computer lab at school playing this than actually studying
October 1, 2026 at 9:57 AM
rain world is maybe the least /influential/ to me on this list, but its far from the bottom of games that I think about constantly; endlessly inspiring, no other game has left me gawking at the screen while playing as much as this. and perhaps thats why, I can't imagine making something close to it
