When I was in college a history class professor asked “Could Hitler happen in the US?” Most felt he could.
I argued Germany had a history of Monarchy/central leader. Hitler couldn’t arise in the US because decentralized authority/checks and balances with 3 branches. Clearly I was wrong. Twice.
