When a president places enormous value on media attention, journalists should think carefully about what they are rewarding with constant coverage. The public still needs rigorous reporting, but that doesn’t mean every Oval Office appearance deserves to become another hours-long political spectacle.

Yes I would say banning major journalistic outlets from the White House could be called repressive. Not to mention going after the private communications of members of the press, having the FCC threaten TV stations for shows Trump doesn't like, and his constant bullying lawsuits.
