Flower farmer, writer & artist in the Georgia mountains. I grow strange things, sketch what wanders by, collect stories, and sip tea a little at a time. Happily married, with a wonderful son and a beautifully chaotic life.
Woke to a lightning storm and poems running through my head. I wrote them down before attempting sleep. Paired with an old photograph I took—discovered metamorphosis.

A creep waits outside the glass
Lurking
Slips under the sill
As I brush my hair, undress
Waiting an hour for me still
Quietly, rest my lashes
Relent—Under the covers
An arm reaching for my leg
Slinks way up my pajamas
Fangs in flesh
Screams
In darkness

Sin—a green monster in hand
Crawling across lush red lips
You hide a bite—caught my sight
Tangling graves, you better dig
Cage your breath or it plummets
Grief—a stormy September
Wisteria weeps in black.

There are a thousand bees inside my skull this morning. The well quit overnight, the smoke alarm won't stop chirping, helicopters kidnapped my husband on my birthday, and my son kicked me in the spine all night. Lord willing, there's milk for tea. Next: clean house, and Monday's homework.

Happy 11th anniversary of my 29th birthday. My red hair has silver, though my husband claims nobody notices. I was a peacock for Halloween, and after my medical history, it's spooky to still be here. The wonderful part? Knowing who I am, with nothing to prove. 🍾😌 #ChronicIllness #BloomScrolling

I'm quite new to leaflet and I'm figuring it out, but here's some flash fiction for fun.
The Cemetery
A fictional writing exercise: A woman enters a cemetery and someone unexpected is missing.

In late summer they swarmed the farm. I read about them after we found a friend to reintroduce a queen. A worker bee lives only 5–6 weeks; humans live decades. We take our days for granted, but the bee? She works for others until she dies—her purpose profound. #Mobile #bloomscrolling #InsectThursday

We are 6 days away from autumn. There’s a bizarre phase in the South where the leaves are changing, but we’re still eating the last of our watermelons. The heat screams summer, but the foliage screams, “Watch out! The cold is coming!”—and it leaves me torn between cobbler and stew. 😅 #SouthernLiving

There are places up here in the mountains that look like they belong somewhere else. Colleges, cathedrals, houses—eaten by history—spit back out. You may have to witness them to believe them. Still, here they are. I hope you're just as resilient.

Two hours from home to stare at a similar view, only this one belongs to someone else. We leave our mountains just to go looking for a fresh perspective. Carving from peak to peak until Monday. Suddenly I feel—breathless. Ready for new challenges again.

Become one with the fish by drowning your toes in a river and making burnt-marshmallow cuisine. Shove your medical problems and your terrible week beneath a horizon of mountains. Come home filthy, but at least you'll get some sanity returned. #ForestFriday #MobilePhotography #WritingCommunity

If you hold your breath, the note of the forest will fold itself into your soul. In 2001, 25 elk returned to Cataloochee Valley after nearly 200 years of silence. Restore one species, and life ripples outward—because of the bugling songs of whales walking on land.

They've since lost one of their whale sharks, and my son is no longer this small. Yet years ago, I took this image of him at the Atlanta aquarium. Emptiness leaves a profound impact on us all.

The light is gone. Crickets outside my window sing low. Heaviness unsettles my chest. Moonglade flashes beneath my lashes, and my hands will tremble soon. A beast buries my independence. I lie awake, waiting in fear. My brain—the wicked path, a tart—bitter traitor.

I swear, if there's been any mischief, this grizzly will pivot. Nothing says “I’m an ass” like having to march into an office building to defend your kid. But Caspian isn’t apologizing, and sometimes the farm gives very good life advice. 😮‍💨

Labor Day in the States is for recreational recovery. In this case, I'm recovering my husband from being kidnapped by his responsibilities—and giving him more responsibilities: a mandatory family fun day. 😏 Non-negotiable. 💋

Life Flight saves lives. My husband saves Life Flight helicopters. Tea rescues me when I'm stuck in a hangar full of guys elbow-deep in engines and throwing wrenches. I'm tossing caffeine like it's holy water. Blessings upon the women with good reflexes.

Tetley and I have two things in common: ignoring farm responsibilities and sleeping. Pretty sure there's a mouse somewhere on the farm gleefully foraging after she snuck inside to nap in the shoe basket. I'm too big to fit, but I'll join her in solidarity.

When autumn and winter arrive, so do the school viruses. The beauty is unmatched, but the lung currently lying on my mattress thinks perhaps summer should stick around a little longer. At least we agree on one thing: when fall comes, death follows.

Photographed from a moving train with a Walmart phone, Montserrat was gloriously looming—a place of contemplation for monks, presumably about time management. Meanwhile, I taught my son the same lesson: do your homework because that phone is mine now. Motherhood is lovely too.

We only have 20 days left until autumn, and the leaves are starting to drop—not because of cooler weather, but because everything is dying. Of heat stroke. And a lack of rain.
My thermostat is set to 68°, so we're playing pretend by wearing cute sweaters.

At 18, everyone thought we were crazy for getting married. Even though we've long since surpassed the accidental black eye—a result of sleeping on a twin mattress on the barracks floor (sorry, babe)—21 years later, we're still sleeping next to each other.
Happy anniversary, my love. ❤️

Found 40 while wandering through a shoe shop in Europe. Somewhere next to aisle 39 is the 11th anniversary of my 29th birthday.
I KNOW. I want to throw up too! I have 17 days to go. I hid behind the elderly woman next to me.

Èze was at the very top of my to-see list, and we nearly didn't make it. The sun was drifting into blue hour when the mountain road took a curve and suddenly, we never wanted to leave. My body suspended above the ocean and my heart leaping into it.

No longer spending my morning along the Spanish Riviera, but I've still got a stack of books in hand and a nap on the agenda. Mondays are for weekend dreamers.
