Don’t miss this episode. It’s the perfect blend of serious analysis, of the culture of entitlement in Reform, the corruption in a polling company, the complicity of rw media and lots of lots of laughter. Well done Kenny & Alex!

We dissect a horrible few days for Farage, every aspect of his latest scandal, and every moment of his car crash conference. And laugh about it quite a lot. As is right and proper.

I'm old enough to remember Nigel Farage ruling out any association with Le Pen's lot "now or in the future" because he considered them "far right". But I guess that's ok now.

Here is what he said in 2013 and 2015.

Manchester City, still awaiting a verdict on charges they broke Premier League rules for a decade, have equalled the British transfer record by signing Enzo Fernandez for 125m pounds. They've now spent more than 300m pounds on three new midfielders this window. Man City deny wrongdoing.

Conservative policy:

- Demand criminals get long sentences
- Don't build prisons to house them
- Oppose early release of prisoners
- Cut prisons budgets so that fewer people are rehabilitated

Imagine Labour were in opposition and two very senior shadow cabinet members, seen as leadership rivals to the leader, had resigned within days of each other. Think how that would be reported - the tone, frequency, and prominence. Now tell me the media landscape is not skewed in this country.

Annual reminder that the Community Shield used to be called the Charity Shield, but so little money actually went to charity that the government told them to either start making serious contributions or change the name.

So they changed the name.

Put your money where your mouth is, IKEA. Pull your ads from this toxic channel.

When I was reporting on Isotrope at the time, there was deep resistance and anger in the Royal Navy

People felt that it was being politicised and dragged into a border control issue way outside its remit. Govt efforts to brand small boats a defence and security issue didn't wash then and won't now

Priti Patel and Boris Johnson had initially wanted the navy to conduct pushbacks but trials conducted off Dorset found them to be "operationally unviable" and illegal under international law

I cannot adequately express just how much I despise Kemi Badenoch. I know politicians who fail to read a room and get their tone wrong. I have never come across one with such an unerring ability to adopt the least appropriate stance on every single occasion. She is a twitter troll made flesh. #PMQs

How conventient for political journalists, to all be gathered in Downing Street once more, so they can interview each other, to ask "how did this happen?", without ever acknowledging that, at least in part, they themselves are how this happened.

Reform have now lost six by-elections in a row in England, Scotland and Wales.

Their national poll rating is 26% – below Labour in 1983 – and Farage’s approval rating is -37.

They’re very far from the voice of the people and need to stop being treated as such.

Though you might argue HMT/No10 has dragged its feet and isn’t willing to spend enough it’s also worth remembering that deficiencies in Britain’s defence spending/capabilities did not start with this Labour govt- not that you’d know it listening to a lot of the commentary today.

80% of Reform's funding comes from people who avoid tax by hiding money offshore. Our idea of true patriotism is to hoard money while contributing nothing towards public services. Just ask Richard Tice.

They haven't. Yes, crises (all humans need grace) but not as many as the media would have you believe

@andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social Sam Coates' megagaff is worth flagging up to readers, as is Alex's perceptive commentary.
To me, these small moments are more revealing than any long essay on impartiality.

Every gov't has released official PM photos for decades. Since 2010 there's been a dedicated 10DS photographer. Several Tory PMs controversially employed personal ones on top. Only a Lab PM would be treated this way.
😂 Sam Coates makes an ABSOLUTE TIT of himself. Calls PM photos "fake news" then finds out they're from the Press Association.

If you make a spurious, inflammatory point you never made about any official photograph before, to pitch yourself as the only reliable source, at a minimum check your facts.
