I had a student interview me today to complete a project in another class. The questions were all based around my career as a professor. It was a nice moment to reflect on where I started, why I continued, and the plethora of research experiences I’ve had thus far. A nice way to breakup the day.

Each semester on one exam, I ask students their favorite dinosaur. Fewer and fewer students know the names of ANY dinosaurs these days, and it makes me sad. Are kids not excited about dinosaurs when they’re younger anymore, or was this just a 90s kid thing because of Jurassic Park/Land Before Time?
