The Community Nova is a neighborhood-scale public artwork that places softly glowing, radio-connected lights at participating homes so that an ordinary residential neighborhood can share a changing constellation of color.
The electronics for Community Nova began as jumper-wire spaghetti on a breadboard. Now I’ve designed my first PCB—a real step from proof of concept toward porch lights my neighbors can actually host.

The artwork comes first, but I’m proud of the technology making it possible. ✨

Community Nova isn’t meant to turn a residential street into a stadium show.

The lights can share colors and effects over radio, with a little variation: more constellation than choreography.

When does coordination start to feel too controlled?

I want Community Nova to read as one glowing porch object not a tech gadget.

Behind the diffuser: custom electronics, lighting control, and a small radio receiving shared colors.

The technology should work quietly enough that the light can be art.

Imagine a porch light that joins the lights across the street—sharing color, rhythm, and motion, changing nightly.

I’m building 100 custom, radio-controlled porch lights for Emerson Way, Sparks Nevada: an artwork made by a neighborhood, one point at a time.

This is The Community Nova. ✦ #PublicArt
