Or maybe they just understand that 71 goal Champions means that too many games were on a knife edge, and that level of attack won't win us the CL, as proven last year. So selling well equates to investment into more expensive, better players.

Luckily we don't get cluster injuries to key players in key positions otherwise not getting enough in the transfer window could've looked really stupid

I just don't buy that. I don't buy that there was no one in world football that was available that couldn't raise the level. I think we just didn't want to pay the money that the market demanded. It's a value hostile market, you pay or you don't get anything

Rogers was almost done, he wanted to come, they even offered to match Chelsea, we baulked at the price thinking we could get Vini, got played, and then our best plan after that was Alvarez who clearly wanted Barcelona and nothing else? That's poor strategy.
