Carapace Whales - Ceta Cataphracta Reaching up to 30m in size, these armoured gentle giants course the waters of the Sea of No Tides and the Sea of Twenty Mists. Travelling in pods, the male carapace whales ofter carry their young on their backs. Such behaviour not only allows the calf to rest, but also provides additional protection for the father — the coarse armour on the calf's back completes that of the father, allowing him to look like the more armoured females. The chitinous carapace segments that gave the whales their name get polished by the seawater, beconing more reflective with time. For such a large creature, the carapace whales have a surpeising amount of evolutionary adaptations aimed to protect their bodies. One is often left to wonder, just what lurks in the depths around the Dysegian to threaten them so... the male carapace whale with a calf on its back is drawn in more detail, below them is another calf, and below them, the bigger sillhouette is the female carapace whale :) the clouds :)
