Reading a book always impacts my vocabulary and that's why after nearly a month of reading Strange and Norrell I keep using words and phrases like "the immensity of which" and "exactitude"

The most important thing to know about what scared me as a child is that uncanny valley humanoid alien/primate range scared the shit out of me and also my mom was and is a Bigfoot and UFO believer

I can't quote repost the first media that terrified you, it was also E.T. though. Scared me to the point that I fully integrated him into my childhood OCD as a threat for not going through with the compulsive action (doing things in 3s and odd numbers- so as not to summon two syllable E.T.)

Obsessed with the Trader Joe's gummy apples which are Gushers style and resembles bleeding pustules when you bite into them

I do understand the people who jump ship from Strange & Norrell halfway through, it does drag on. By my calculations I'll be done in two weeks. It's the same read time for me as Menewood but shorter than W&P but if I hadn't read either of those books I couldn't hang with Strange & Norrell

Stepping up my social life only by a little bit and making me feel like Laura Palmer- where did she ever find the time?

I'm disappointed that Strange and Norrell hasn't found a way to comment on its events happening simultaneous to the Grimm's collection in Westphalia when it's very much about academia's relations to folk belief

Can't convince me that the rise of liquid and cream makeups over powder isn't playing a hand in destroying the state of ASMR

The worst smut fan-fiction is by young people who've never had sex BUT the best smut fan-fiction is written by ace/aro people many of whom have also not have had sex but there is a difference

fantasy is when names are phonetically Welsh but meaningfully gibberish, scifi is when names are phonetically Greek and thematically chosen

Watched a 2 year old rip open the red bean bao her mom packed her, scoop out all the paste with her fingers, then delicately put the discarded bread back into her lunchbox so "momma can see what she ate" what an icon

And if I had nickel for every novel I read where the Napoleonic Wars are described from the future with too much detail I'd have two nickels but at least I know where the second nickel was coming from because I read the older one first

If I had a nickel for everytime someone got deranged about Wizard of Oz and liked every tagged post on my Tumblr blog I would have at least two dollars by now, yes that math is correct

I'm only 300 pages into Strange and Norrell and so far it is amazing I love the asides and long fairy tales in the footnotes. The attention to detail is also superb. People on insta were talking about how they quit more than half way in so I'm wary but honestly just chasing another Gormenghast high
