Here is the exploration of the book in one handy link. Retweets and quote posts are, of course, appreciated. 🙏 #artherstory #booksy #C20Britishart #arthistory

The final draft of the MS will be on its way to the typesetters any day now. A cover will be finalized soon. The book is coming. But why read it? A reason a day for maybe 30 days.

Shown during the war, Chez Victor was praised by one critic for its 'quiet wit'.
Chez Victor. An oil painting. A woman, face obscured by a hat, is feeding a child soup. There is a second woman at that table, but she does not seem to be part of the group as she is looking down and in her own world. In front of that trio, a lone woman is reading (probably a letter) at a table with a bread basket and a green glass bottle with no apparent label. Both women we can see clearly are drinking small apéritifs, possibly sherry. The absence of men, the shortage of food, the sense of aloneness, this all reminds that London in 1941 was not a city at peace despite attempts to 'carry on'.
