Church of England country vicar in East Cambridgeshire. Well woke.
Between 'the Russians are coming' and 'Super-intelligent AI will kill us all' I'm not rating my chances of achieving retirement (4 years away). Those in a position to do something about it are either actively working towards armageddon, or in their pockets, so time to build some off-grid resilience.

We all know that Reform UK Ltd was previously UKIP and the Brexit Party, whose main policy idea has entirely failed. Voting for Farage is a Proverbs 26.11 move: "Like a dog that returns to its vomit is a fool who reverts to his folly"

My reflections on apologies, non-apologies, and why they do more harm than good, ahead of Synod. I think we need to be talking clearly about honesty and integrity, their presence and absence, as we think about the ordering of our common life as a church. #CofEpeeps ⚓️🕯✝️

Conversion of Saul - my favourite window. It's in St. Paul's church in Cambridge, and I stood in front of it to make my wedding vows on 3rd Sept. 1988. It's by Alfred Wilkinson from 1960 and replaced a window blown out by a bomb in the Second World War - declared, incidentally, on 3rd Sept 1939.

1/4 I need to say publicly - the things happening to Bishop Sarah Mulally right now feel like what happens when a woman steps out of line, dares to live equality, assumes that she is allowed to operate in the same sphere as men.

Would anyone have an idea of how to contact the author Simon Bradley (Pevsners, Saint Pancras Station, Bradley's Railway Guide, etc.)? Google isn't being particularly helpful, not the websites of any of his publishers. Any help gratefully received!

Um, in a means and needs based tax and public services system half the people in the system *should* almost by definition get more back than they put in?

I wonder. I wonder whether reasonable people are afraid to call out extremist views *partly* because they've seen previously apparently reasonable people sucked up their own arses into insane extremism (through whatever combination of carelessness, echo-chambers, deliberate manipulation, etc.) and

So according to this 'newspaper', if a kerb damages a car it is a killer. But five deaths a day due to bad driving is 'the price we pay to live in society today'.

No.

Speed bumps and high kerbs are the price taxpayers pay because people drive irresponsibly. #MotorNormativity #CarLobby

World chess just placed restrictions on both trans women and trans men
The International Chess Federation will stop allowing transgender women to participate in women's tournaments. The group said changing genders has a "significant impact" on a player's status.
