One of the longest Toad Patrols we've done, 8 weeks in inclement weather & an increase in numbers - 3040 amphibians compared to 861 the previous year. So 2 weeks after the first tadpoles appear Yorkshire Water partially drains the reservoir, presumably for maintenance work.

I think this might be the longest Toad Patrol we've ever done, week 7 & they're still on the move - albeit in the opposite direction now 🐸 more than double the number moved last year, but a 7.5% increase in fatalities sadly @froglife.bsky.social

Any Newt experts? It's predominantly Palmate on our road patrol, but this one was found in the cattlegrid.

There's a very fine line between horticulture & archeological excavation, I think the boundary might have been crossed by some over-enthusiastic gardeners at Mount Grace Priory.

Day 25 #BatMas: Mediterranean horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus euryale)🦇🌎🧪

A species found in the Mediterranean & Balkan peninsula, these bats prefer karst formations, broadleaved woodlands & olive groves! When giving birth, females will congregate in maternity roosts of 50 - 400 females

Stoat (Mustela ermine): This mammal is found across Eurasia and also in North America where it is known as the short-tailed weasel. It mainly preys on small rodents but will go for a variety of birds & eggs and rabbits. Thank you again Suzi Sullivan for sharing your photo of a Stoat taken in the UK

When Rishi Sunak made the Vaccine deal with Moderna as Chancellor, he had up to £530m invested in Moderna.

Now Michelle Mone is desperately bringing it up.

Like if you want Mone on trial.

I was slightly impressed with myself for doing a four mile walk today (with a fair bit of uphill) ten weeks after a knee replacement, but then I fell asleep for half an hour on the sofa, so maybe not quite as fit as I thought 🤣

The temperature has dropped off enough to justify lighting the stove which means I can also begin roasting hazelnuts 🌰

Snow & mist - sadly it's the mushy, short-lived variety of snow.
