For months I wrote the 2024 way. Giant briefs, front-loaded with every requirement. One ran 2,198 words. I hit enter and hoped. The gaps I forgot came back as confident guesses.

I get lost in the details and lose the outcome. I wait for certainty before I decide, and the deciding only gets harder. Analysis paralysis. So I gave it permission: challenge me directly.

We are not hard drives. We are sense-makers. So I split the work. Storage and retrieval go to AI. Sense-making stays with me. Neither replaces the other. Both honor the other.

Knowledge is different. Knowledge is what a human mind makes of information. The connection between two ideas nobody else has made. The application. The lived experience turning raw data into earned insight. I had stockpiled information and called it knowledge.

Writing an essay this spring, I found a distinction hiding in me for decades. Information is processed data. It has moved homes three times in my lifetime: the library, then the Internet, then AI. Each move made recall faster and cheaper. The last made it free.
