This (and the rest of the thread) is such an improvement! I'd thought I must be an idiot for not understanding the original. These are interesting and beautiful, too.
A better way to show the relation between pairs of numbers is to plot them on a scatter chart. This immediately shows the clusters around 2, 3, 4, 6 episodes that Classic Who stories were mostly produced as, and how this didn’t automatically produce novelisations of the same length.

Really enjoying the Season 7 Blu-ray. I've just discovered Mark Ayres' lovely recreation of the Dudley Simpson UNIT theme from Ambassadors of Death is on the Photo Gallery - such a little thing, but it's made my day

AoD4. Before Colour Recovery this would have been the hardest episode to return to restore as the off-air tape has no coherent or useful colour. We’re fortunate that CR is at the upper end of the spectrum.

AoD3. Historically the most challenging episode as the off-air tape from WNED Buffalo has very little good colour and the colour recovery result was also comparatively poor. A lot of work has been needed to get closer to the quality we like.

AoD2. The only known off-air recording of this story is generally poor with many sections unusable and ep 2 typifies this. Colour Recovery, while struggling to decode shadow hues consistently, unsurprisingly proved to be better throughout.
