I've been settling into the slower rhythms of my new life and have started to feel the tickle of story telling waking up. It's helped that a random fan has struck up an email correspondence with me - and they're so enthusiastic about book 1 of the Planet Seekers trilogy, it doesn't feel quite so much like screaming into the void to continue with book 3.

It's been a busy few months. I've developed the website for and established JingTone Reiki and Natural Healing and accepted my first clients. I've established and claimed my Yelp business page (and if you've ever had Reiki from me, or I've talked to your animals, I'd appreciate an honest review...) My yard signs and business cards have arrived. I've harvested my garden's first tomatoes, kohlrabi, Swiss chard, and lettuce.

I've been exploring job opportunities for the past year plus. I've had a long, successful career as an IT PM, and what I'm seeing in the market now demonstrates clearly just how unsettled and uncertain the future is for me in that field - and how much of it is reverting to old-school in-office requirements. I'm also coming up on the 20-year anniversary of my Reiki/Seichim Master attunement in June.

It's been a surprisingly trying winter. For the first time in our married lives, we rode out an ice storm that left our driveway coated with 3-5 inches of packed ice for over a week. Finally, a kind neighbor with heavy machinery used his tractor with a claw arm to clear a way for us to be able to get off the property.

It's been a busy summer with a significant amount of stress on a number of fronts. The upshot for me has ended up being that I'm once again unemployed - this time because the wider environment introduced by current US government policy has created a bottleneck in contract awards, and therefore also reduced the number of people currently required with my skill set.

Another July more than halfway done means I'm another year older. The shape and flavor of celebrating that fact has evolved over the years to mostly involve my favorite foods from my favorite restaurants. (I am happy to report none of our nation's unhealthiest "restaurants" is on the list.) It's amusing to note how closely that predilection for fine dining ties to my natal sign's inclinations.

Ironic that it's been ... ten months since my last post, which was titled, apparently fittingly enough, "Burnout." I have kept meaning to return to the blogging habit, yet somehow that was a hurdle of ever-increasing height.
