I say this as someone who loves the WC more than any other sporting event: every team should get on a plane home right now. Or all the games should be rescheduled for 🇨🇦 & 🇲🇽. The USMNT should be disqualified now & suspended from the next WC. Or, we can start acting like a serious country of adults.
I don’t remember any World Cup where shitty stuff like this happened, & I can remember every World Cup since 1978.

This referee is one of the best referees in the African Football Confederation (AFCON), & FIFA is standing there useless.
US confirms it denied entry to Somali referee set to take part in World Cup
Award-winning referee Omar Artan was 'determined to be inadmissible due to vetting concerns' after arriving in Miami.

Honestly boycotting the World Cup would be the most effective and probably the least disruptive of all of the options available to Europe. I’m not sure how you can send teams and fans to contribute to a spectacle designed entirely to celebrate a guy trying to invade your territory.

We quit Twitter a long time ago but this still struck a nerve with some. That said, we’ve never regretted our decision.

If you’re rich and not a coward, this is what you’d refer to as a “market opportunity” to dominate a media ecosystem that’s about to be covered in grotesque government slop. To be a pop of color in a sea of beige will be easier than ever. People will flock to it. You gotta be a little brave, though.

I'll merely note that today, like all days, is a great day to stop posting on Twitter, a platform whose owner force feeds this slop into people's brains with an algorithm designed to boost his views and trample yours.

What is the point of the Sunday shows now? What is gained, either for the viewer or the media outlets, by platforming the authoritarians to do their bits & lies every week?

This is a pretty significant change. It looks like this blocks the ability of advocacy groups to organize campaigns to help people submit comments on proposed federal regs. People can still individually comment, but most folks don't without a nudge. Via @404media.co www.404media.co/the-governme...

NGL, if you're still on Twitter at this point I'm judging you. You're not "influencing the debate" or "shaping the narrative" anymore. You're fighting with Nazis and bots while lending Elon your credibility. If everyone decent left, Twitter would just be another 4chan wasteland.

The reason Elon went after USAID first was they had been investigating how he sabotaged Ukraine's Starlink to help Russia.
Elon Musk has already killed huge numbers of people around the world by gutting USAID - but hey, he WILL exploit horrible disasters by pretending to give affected people stuff he’ll actually turn around and charge them for.
His "free" Starlink terminals always (or at least nearly always) require a paid service subscription. All he's doing is seeding the market using the cellphone or shaver model.
