The Castle garden looks spectacular even when the sun doesn't shine. There's alot of self seeders there so the garden will look more amazing each year xx

The Castle is sharing it's secrets and the footprint of the Barracks are visible again. The service men and families of the North Yorkshire Militia lived here as did Baden Powell.

The Green Howards War Memorial is looking splendid in the sunshine today, it was built in 1921 and has 21 steps. I've added a couple of original photos from 1921 taken by either my Great Great Grandad on my Great Grandad :-)

I popped down to Easby Abbey this afternoon with the hope of taking some photos of the medieval frescos, bad timing for me as there was a wedding but on the plus side the wedding car driver let me take some photos of his car with the Church and Abbey in the background.

I had a little walk up Sleegill this evening, then Theakston lane and along to one of Richmonds ancient monuments (older than the Castle) Scots Dike.
We had a beautiful blue sky today which set off the lushness of the green spectacularly xx

When Richmond had a ducking stool at Clints Bank (by the swimming pool). The 1st photo comes from a Victorian Spencer's Almanac and the 2nd and 3rd photos are from an old map of Richmond from the 1700s #richmondsnippets.

At the bottom on Longwood Bank by the Station is a large stone that has WD 1917 carved on it. It was left by German prisoners of war who built the road to connect the Station and Catterick Camp.

Good morning folks, I thought I'd pop out early before it gets too hot. Easby Abbey was looking magnificent as always and I enjoyed a lovely view of the Castle too.
