Happy 60th anniversary to Star Trek. A show that has had a huge impact on my love for science fiction, storytelling, cinema, technology, and gaming. May Star Trek live long and prosper.

#RPGaDAY2026 31. Why does a character think they have an edge? In my Star Trek Adventures campaign, the previous captain of the USS Invictus was an undocumented empath and she utilized that to her advantage many times. But, it also added some chaos and confusion when she misinterpreted an emotion.

#RPGaDAY2026 29. Labor: Thing you are most willing to work on for a game. I often do research, adventure and campaign writing, handouts, props, and occassionally minis. What I am always willing to do is write up homebrew adventures and campaigns as many of my games are theater of the mind.

#RPGaDAY2026 28. Devotion: Game you have played the most! No contest, AD&D 1e. I played it almost weekly through high school and college. Moved to 2e a while then picked 1e up again after graduate school. Dabbled in 3/3.5/4. Played 5e quite a bit. Then started running a 1e campaign again recently.

#RPGaDAY2026 27. What do you hunger for most from a session? Shared memories! The most incredible game nights are the ones you are still talking about at the next game night, bringing up years later in random conversations, and, for long time gamers, reminiscing about decades later.

#RPGaDAY2026 26. One game you regret not trying? I always wanted to play Torg. A friend talked about it a lot but was never willing to run it. I really wanted to play in a pulp genre style campaign rather than GM it, but could not get him or anyone else in my group to learn the rules and run it.

#RPGaDAY2026 25. One game you want to get more familiar with? I have run a few one-shots of Prowlers & Paragons Ultimate Edition and really enjoyed them. I love superhero ttrpgs and haven't run a campaign in a long time. I think this system has potential. mobiusworldspublishing.com/products/pro...

#RPGaDAY2026 24. Your preferred distance in any type of RPG conflict? Apparently my preffered distance is a day late. In ttrpgs, I like being on the front line, tending to play fighters, barbarians, and paladins. Even better, fist fights and grappling where it is truly up front and personal.

#RPGaDAY2026 23. An enjoyable moment of good or bad fortune. In my D&D 5e campaign, my players encountered Cadryl's Carnival and had a wonderful time chancing fate in the games. One became cursed, another learned magic, a feathered hat was won, two banned for cheating, and two petted an owl bear.

#RPGaDAY2026 22. An enjoyable moment of grit PCs did or did not tough out. Back in high school, I played in a original AD&D Dark Sun campaign that was all grit and we loved it. Tracking equipment and rations, limited healing options, limited magic access, and a world out to kill you.

#RPGaDAY2026 20. Have the characters kept or broken more promises? My players and their characters definitely have kept more promises, but not necessarily in the way that was expected. Let's just say they are creative in how they fulfill those promises and tend to improvise a lot.

#RPGaDAY2026 19. A huge risk taken because of desire? What fantasy adventuring party doesn't have at least one or two characters who constantly desire the new shiny and take unnecessary risks to obtain them?

#RPGaDAY2026 18. Directness: A fast introduction of a new PC or player? In our Star Trek Adventures 2e campaign, it was easy to introduce the new player in the episode as an ensign at the helm during a crisis. She did such a great job she is promoted to lieutenant jg and joins the main cast.

#RPGaDAY2026 17. A satisfying example of a character’s integrity. I always enjoy watching players who have a heart for playing AD&D/D&D Paladins. It takes a special mindset to truly roleplay a Paladin, delving into a code of honor balanced with adventuring without being just a magical fighter.

#RPGaDAY2026 16. One thing that will cause a character to lose their composure? In my current AD&D campaign, our thief is now absolutely paranoid of ceilings after being attacked by falling slimes, swinging assassins, and more. He loses it when there are rafters, shadowed recesses, bulkheads, etc.

#RPGaDAY2026 15. How would you organize an endurance session of your favorite game? I used to host an event at my house called WHOA, Weekend Holiday Of Adventure. Friends would come and stay at my house and we would game all day, cook meals together, and catch up with each other's lives.

#RPGaDAY2026 14. What is a game held in high regard you have yet to play? Even as long as I have been roleplaying, there are so many amazing ttrpgs available. Some old and new I hear a lot about that I really should try someday include Mothership, Delta Green, and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

#RPGaDAY2026 13. Strain: So far, what is the heaviest set of RPG things you have carried to play? Back in junior high, I walked across town to my friends house with a backpack full of the AD&D 1e PHB, UA, DMG, MM1, MM2, FF, DD, current campaign world box set, binder of notes, and dice.

#RPGaDAY2026 12. Most things end. What is one RPG loss you still feel? At a point in my life, I felt I had to walk away from AD&D so I sold my library. Later, I realized I was wrong and regretted the purge. I have spent decades slowly rebuilding my library of AD&D 1e books. Still missing some items.
