A roughly bust-length painting of a little girl, close up, with white skin, blue eyes, and light brown hair. She wears a blue cloth head covering and is wrapped in a rough brown blanket. With her right arm she cradles an empty brown handled basket, on the top edge of which rests her left hand. Her head is tipped so that her right cheek rests against the basket handle as she gazes at the viewer. On a little table at the lower left a small pile of oranges (4 are visible) sits on a white cloth. The top of one of the fruits is lopped off to expose a cross-section of the interior.
