Repost with your home river.

I lived near the Suffolk Stour until I was 34, and have lived near the Cambridgeshire section of the Great Ouse (pictured) ever since. Always a joy to walk beside both.

Heads up Ely people: the new Ely-I magazine will be dropping through your letterbox this week. I have two pieces in this issue: on page 20, a short article about the eel themed painted rock installation at the country park, and an abridged version of Autumn Fever inside the back cover!

This is German Chancellor Friedrich Merz giving a press conference, paused on our TV just now. I'm not surprised he looks depressed with the result of the Saxony-Anhalt election. So many people have forgotten the lessons of 20th century history.

I'd given up on believing I'd produce a piece of fiction before the year is out, but out of nowhere came a cracking idea and I'm making good progress with it. Something entirely unlike my previous stuff.

I'll keep you informed!

Everyone should be more Dolly. She was such an incredible example to us all, and the world is a darker, sadder place without her. RIP.

There's something so powerful about Glen Hansard's track Bird of Sorrow that makes me want to weep hysterically. I can't right now, but maybe I'll find a window in my schedule for bawling, later.

And alas, now it's true.
This is currently incorrect. The polls for the Clacton-on-Sea by election have only just opened! He'll probably sadly still win back his seat but I'm hoping Count Binface puts a significant dent in his majority. And then he's got that parliamentary investigation waiting for him to return.

Also, last night we loitered on the Paradise Field to get a view of the partial (from here) eclipse. We had the special glasses so could actually look with our own eyes, which makes a lot of difference! My neighbour's 3 yr old was more interested in getting back to his bedtime story 😂

Occasionally I get the pens out and have a little draw. Mostly cartoon characters. This time I did Count Binface, in recognition of his crusade for Clacton. It's far from perfect, which proves that it isn't an AI creation 😁

So, I have written a blog piece on what happened when I found a story on my laptop that I don't remember writing or having published.

I'd be very happy to hear what people think as I don't often write pieces like this.

A different tone of Turquoise. More of a deep teal, a little sombre, mellowing in an autumnal light. And a pox on those wretched pumps!
