when wikipedia launched, the idea that an encyclopedia could be reliably maintained by the public was a joke. now, it's a marvel, a remarkable resource, virtually the only website that remotely delivers on its potential and practically the last pleasant browsing experience on the internet.

The library was using 3 seperate apps, so they're cutting one of them. Unfortunately, the one they're cutting is the one I've had 24 audiobooks from vs. 5 audiobooks from the retained app. The e-mail didn't even mention the 3rd place app...

I wish streaming could settle for moderate successes, instead of chasing huge hits. They seem wedded to a 'spend big to make big' philosophy. Why would anyone watch a new series with this track record of cancelling? Why would anyone watch a series that you've already cancelled?

There's a lot to like about Mother Mary, especially the acting, but it's so intentionally vague that it feels empty and half-arsed...

I was physically unprepared for how much lifting is involved with being a parent. My daughter has been able to walk confidently for a while now, she just really prefers being carried...and to be fair, wouldn't we all?

I don't know much about being trans, but I did watch a lot of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. My main takeaway from I Saw The TV Glow is the death of Tara (whose actor cameos) really got to her. The 'pink opaque' is a very differebt animal to my recollections of a show that probably hasn't aged well.

English men's football fans are a weird bunch. They are utterly convinced they're going to win, right up until they don't. Then they are the gloomiest fatalists you'll ever see. This was the best result in 60 years, they got to beat France and reignite a rivalry with Argentina and yet...miserable!

I know it's probably the heatwave keeping me up, but it might be the ad with Steve Carell running around an american car park asking "does anyone have Walkers?"...then someone produces a packet clearly labelled Walkers. It's fairly common knowledge that that's not their name there, right..?

So after I finished East Of Eden, I found out Netflix was doing a miniseries focused on Kathy. This is...risky. Kathy in the book is a psychopath who ruthlessly purses money. If they want to make a her even an anti-hero, it would involve a lot of changes to her character or story...
