tried to describe myself from A to Z but only got as far as A for apathetic and gave up. Couldn’t be arsed. A pessimist is never disappointed
I find it irritating when blocking a particular genre of post, rather than stopping any more like that appearing, just makes more appear because you interacted with one. I don’t want to say what it was because it would be counterproductive, but it involves people who appear to believe themselves to

Yeah so you girls always say that men don’t listen, but have you ever considered that the last two minutes of “conversation” only existed in your head and you’ve only just invited us in to your inner monologue?

Congratulations to the England World Cup squad on their A-level results

@jonnelledge.bsky.social let me just advise you that the book of Last Chance to See is probably the book I’ve re-read the most times in my life (other than things like Mr Men). Never ever get tired of it

The news that dachshunds are in any way smaller than most other dogs has not yet reached dachshunds
I had a profound realization today: the dachshund isn't long. It's just a normal-sized dog with short legs.

If Gil Scott-Heron had still been with us, the last ten years could have been the best work of his career

Argentina showed in both the semi final and the final that when they forget about shithousing their way through matches they can be a really good team to watch. Trouble is they only do that when there’s nothing to lose, and they’ve managed to find some really creative ways of being utterly classless

One thing which seems to be overlooked is that the World Cup wasn’t created to see whether England can win it. There are other countries trying to win it as well. If all you’re interested in is finding out how to play the game so that it’s you that wins it, stick to your football manager simulations

Why didn’t we just go out and score more goals?

Noticeable how the World Cup discourse has become a lot more acrimonious now all the cute and fluffy teams are out and all that’s left is the top rated teams that everyone wants to lose for one reason or another, plus of course everything FIFA does stinks now. It was always there, but now it’s [ … ]

Turns out Harry Kane played a round of golf with Trump eighteen months ago. Well hurrah, now everyone has an opinion to spout which has nothing to do with the match itself but means they now want England to lose. Wouldn’t it be nice to just enjoy the football and argue about politics separately

Well the tone has suddenly changed about Anne Widdecombe hasn’t it

It wasn’t that long ago that national associations would be disqualified and suspended if there was government interference. Now it’s FIFA-approved

They fly over our garden on the way to London. The first time we saw it, a couple of months after we moved in, we hadn’t been expecting it and my wife asked me if we were at war or something
One positive of living in Fulham is that when Trooping the Colour happens you can watch the Lancaster, Chinooks and Red Arrows fly past from your garden while drinking a coffee and petting a dog

The worst time for pop music (in the UK, and when I was still in the target age range) was the early 90s. We’d forgotten how to write songs. Most of what was in the charts was covers, re-releases, pointless drum machine remixes or tuneless dance music. It wasn’t all rubbish. Just 90% of it
We're not living in the worst age for pop music though, that has to be the 2010s and the latter half of the 2000s.
