This whole “is the claim ripe? nope!” Position of John Roberts makes me think of an asteroid headed our way. We would not be able to defend ourselves, in his reasoning, because no harm had come to us. “But it will annihilate our planet!” “Nope, you can’t act to defend from it- no harm yet.” Ugh.

Generally I avoid speculating on my posts. However the administration’s actions are obviously benefiting Russia, China and N Korea. Abandoning drone research, repelling foreign students, backing away from military exercises…I ask, could these clowns be that compromised?

Congress has the power to appoint ambassadors for a reason. Like, literally, who is this man?
Since Jared has been acting as un diplomate sans portefeuille, I've been shocked no U.S. news org has gone on an editorial campaign against it.

Most stories about Jared and the Logan Act date from 2017. Was there some court decision that I missed about it In the interim? Why was this just dropped?
We should consider developing a standing body of government officials who are trained in diplomacy and can be sent around the world to negotiate the interests of the USA, so the president doesn't have to send his grifting son-in-law, who doesn't have any skills or training or government clearances.

What this article describes is a predictably bumbling and potentially drastic failure to prepare for new strains of deadly viruses. Who put such a pro-Trump headline on top of it? https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2026/08/17/trump-aims-rebuild-defenses-against-bioweapons-ai-fears-rise/

Before you vote for a candidate who supports increasing our military budget, ask why they do. No country will invade us-too far, too expensive, etc. Then, do you really want our soldiers to fight wars overseas? We are at war today-cyber war, trade war, but kinetic war is not what we should spend $ on

Dear Media, please stop quoting climate deniers. The mountain of science contradicts their unsupported claims. Out world is on fire. Report the cause - a warming planet.

Heard that Congress is worried about Soc Sec running out of money in 6 years. Oddly, the solution is easy! Stop taking on more and more debt. Stop increasing the military budget and shrink it instead.

Memo to Cornyn, Cassidy and Tillis: just disappear like Mitch. Leave town and be absent for votes. You won’t be “crossing” Trump, you will be out “sick.” Your staff will report you are recovering slowly. No Blanche and no trillion dollar defense budget.

With COVID we had to be patient. Life took a long time to return to a new normal. With Trump, we have to be patient and there will be a new normal. The third challenge to each of us is that patience will not get us through a period of global warming. Vote for those who acknowledge need for action.

Under Trump, U.S. federal debt has surpassed 100% of GDP for the first time since WWII.

And it's on track to beat that all-time record by 2030.

It's a terrible rule tho retroactively the rule would have been nice, it would've gotten Elon Musk expelled from the country before he could do much damage.

(And in any event he should be denaturalized and deported; he lied about his immigration status history to obtain citizenship.)
Foreign students won't be allowed to complete multiple undergrad or grad degrees. What an utterly pointless rule. We don't want overeducated immigrants in America, apparently.

Jay Clayton is Trump’s nominee to serve as Director of National Intelligence.

As the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, he just issued a subpoena to the New York Times over its Air Force One reporting - a brazen act intended to intimidate a free press.

We can imagine how he’d abuse his power as DNI.
Times Journalists Subpoenaed as Trump Escalates Pressure on Media
The Justice Department is seeking to compel testimony from reporters who wrote about the new Air Force One. The Times called the move a “brazen act.”
