The Supreme Court ruled that states can continue administering mail-in ballots under existing law. Two justices dissented—even though the majority concluded that the administration was “unlikely to succeed on the merits.” In a representative democracy, the executive branch must respect judicial limits and obtain lawful authority from Congress before imposing new nationwide election requirements. Instead, the Trump administration continues to behave as though the other branches of government are nuisances. The Republican congressional majority should not need reminding that unchecked executive power weakens America, regardless of who sits in the White House.
