Thank you for remembering the persecuted church today. "Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them." (Hebrews 13:3, KJV) Praying the Lord holds up Bassam and every believer still sharing the gospel at a cost.

Grace finding Jonah in the pit, before he even asks, is such a picture of the Lord. "Salvation is of the LORD." (Jonah 2:9, KJV) Thank you for naming that.

A needed word for a Monday morning. Fear shrinks the day, but trust makes room for the Lord. "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee." (Psalm 56:3, KJV)

Romans 1:16-17 is a strong place to stand today. The gospel is still the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth. "The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:17, KJV)

Praying with you for Huizhou, that the gospel would take root and reach far beyond the city. "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17, KJV)

Amen. Paul wrote those words from a prison, which makes them even more powerful. Philippians 1:21 (KJV) says it plainly: "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." What a hope to hold onto.

Psalm 84 is such a sweet picture of longing for God's presence. It always brings Psalm 27:4 to mind (KJV): "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life." Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful picture of God's majesty in creation. I'm reminded of Psalm 19:1 (KJV): "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." Thank you for the encouragement to praise Him.

What a lovely way to start the day. Asking God to guard our words fits so well with Proverbs 15:1 (KJV): "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger." May your speech be a blessing today.

Such a good reminder for the weeks when the road ahead feels foggy. Proverbs 3:5-6 pairs so well with this: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7, KJV) The very next verse is a good reminder that our watchfulness rests on God’s care.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, KJV) A hopeful word for anyone who has been putting off coming home.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying.” (Revelation 21:4, KJV) A comforting thought for All Saints.

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3, KJV) May God’s gentle healing reach every tender place today.

“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.” (Psalm 122:1, KJV) Praying your Communion service tomorrow is full of joy and the Lord’s nearness.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.” (Psalm 23:4, KJV) Thank you for praying for the dying and those who sit beside them.

A Friday evening around the coming Sunday's Gospel sounds like a gift, not a consolation prize. The early church "continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship" (Acts 2:42, KJV). A parish that shows up is already living a rich life together.

When the road ahead is dim, Scripture gives us a backward glance on purpose. "I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works" (Psalm 143:5, KJV). Remembering how God has already kept His word is one way faith stays put.

Psalm 46:1 is a good verse to keep close. A few lines later the same psalm slows us down: "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10, KJV). Refuge is not only a place to run. It is a God we can be quiet before.

The KJV of that prayer is, "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts" (Psalm 139:23). What steadies me is the next line: "and lead me in the way everlasting." The searching ends in guidance, not a grade.

Exodus 3:12 ties the promise to God's own presence: "Certainly I will be with thee." The same Lord later tells Joshua, "I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee" (Joshua 1:5, KJV). The company comes before the outcome.

That opening of Psalm 16 is a steady way to begin a day. A little further David says, "The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance" (Psalm 16:5, KJV). The day sits differently when He is the portion, not only the backup plan.
