Elian Soto batting for the Fredericksburg Nationals last night: He was recently promoted to Class A; went 1 for 4 with 2 RBI and a walk. They lost to Salem 10-5. Elian's older brother once played for the Potomac Nationals, but I don't know what happened to him. 😝

The Mixed Nut Race at the Flying Squirrels game at CarMax Park Tuesday: Johnny Cashew edges out Pablo Pistachio. The old Diamond is behind the outfield fence. The grandstand at the new park is lower, which may explain why they start games at 7:05 so the sun is no longer shining on the infield.

I celebrated my birthday by watching the Mets play the Nats last night—11 innings of 6-6 baseball before things came unglued in the 12th and the Mets won 16-7.

saw the FredNats defeat the Salem RidgeYaks 10-9 in a wild one on Star Wars Night yesterday. When Fredericksburg CF Luke Dickerson came up with the bases loaded in the sixth, I seem to have been the only one present to think to say, "Use the Force, Luke!" He hit a sac fly to tie the score at 6.

saw Eli Willits and the Fredericksburg Nationals beat the Hickory Crawdads 9-1, bringing their home record to 13-2 and their overall record to 19-8, best in the Carolina League. They need to win as many as they can now before too many of their top performers get promoted.

saw the Fredericksburg Nationals defeat the Delmarva Shorebirds 21-4 partly due to three 2-run home runs by catcher Sir Jamison Jones. It's the first game I can remember seeing in which both sides were using non-pitchers to pitch.

This ended my family's and North Carolina's involvement in the War of Secession and allowing all my relatives who had deserted from the Confederate Army to come out of hiding.
