(Just to note; "I think [insert character here] is autistic" is not an unusual game of recognition, for lack of a better term, that some folks like me like to play, like how some think Peridot from Steven Univers is autistic despite being a literal alien. So don't take this too seriously lol.)

Being an A.I. construct aside; would it be a stretch to suggest Caine could be interpreted as autistic?
Speaking AS an autistic person, I can speak to the experience of constant, stress/anxiety-inducing confusion stemming from the world around me making little to no sense to me.

Yup! Gene Wilder’s one of my favourite actors.

My moods can be intense when I experience them, but I don’t know if I’d say they swing like Gangle’s.

As far as Digital Circus characters go, I relate the most to Pomni, Ragatha, and Kinger.
Pomni because I’m a bundle of anxiety, Ragatha because I have some people pleasing tendencies, and I share Kinger’s worldview and scatterbrain tendencies.
Then there’s Caine.

I think it’s telling that, as far as we know so far, people have only abstracted when they’re alone and isolated. Caine died around the others, sure, but he was emotionally isolated from the rest of the humans.
Even Jax was accepted back into a group because they know he needs them, really badly

I believe one of the themes of TADC is being there for other people, even when you’re suffering. We’re pretty much trapped in our own “circus”, and we have to find meaning in just living and helping people.

I empathize with Caine too, and I see alot of my worst and best traits in him. People/Characters need layers. We're complicated and messy.
And hearing how much you channeled your own past and mistakes into Caine's performance, Alex, is what makes him as relatable, compelling and 'human' as he is. ❤️

In my opinion, though it still doesn't justify his actions in any way, I think Caine is more like a kid with a gun and a lot of anger and feelings of unfairness. Not only doesn't have yet the tools to regulate his emotions properly but he also has way too much power.

A mantra that I have that I repeat to myself constantly is: “it’s your friends who save you”. I’ve witnessed firsthand how being there for someone and teaching them slowly to love themself, even if you don’t love yourself, can transform their life for the better

In those moments, I was genuinely unsure what I was doing wrong.
I think a lot of people have struggled with issues like this, so it’s easier than one might think to get in the right mindset.
All that means is that Caine is a much more extreme, violent, and insane example.
