Birder from south wales. Also other stuff
Enjoyable trip into town to watch the charity shield. In the Man City end so supported them but they’ve got a lot of sharpness to find quite quickly

Nice walk around the bay despite the heat. A few new plants. Very active bee wolfs and my first (albeit very poor) photos of brown hawker. Thanks to Gareth stamp for getting the word out

@ignitionpress.bsky.social Hi. Really like the look of a lot of your stuff but mainly read online. What’s the best venue for that?

@al-ewing.bsky.social Reading a pile of old megazines and been really enjoying your Dredd and tempest but just got to ‘twenty years to midnight’ and have been absolutely crying at some of the most hard core Mrs gunderson punning of all time. Thank you

Three new birds for me in Spain

Away from the three lifers it was nice to get a few spanish ticks bringing me to 219. Not pictured Great Black Backed Gull (ironically probably the hardest to get for spain) and Shelduck

Didn’t really focus on wildlife on visit to Spain and Gibraltar but got 5 of my 6 main targets. Photographing two tailed pasha, Europe’s only (slightly dubious) monkey and three birds. Only dipped chameleon of my main targets. Saw some cool Goyas in Cádiz too

@kierongillen.bsky.social just got up to date with TPF. 15 and 16 both brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for some amazing comics and so glad I went into 16 with no prior knowledge at all

Late afternoon walk to Cardiff Bay barrage was incredibly crowded but got me my 10th butterfly species of the year in Green Veined White and this Great Northern Diver a very welcome patch tick.

Not particularly warm today but the sun did the trick. 2 new species bringing me to 9 and photo of holly blue after two unphotographed ones
April 2, 2026 at 5:44 PM
Finally a bit of sunshine to kickstart the butterfly season.

Nice close Kestrel at Rest Bay

Not quite a brown shrike, prior appointment stopped me twitching, but great to watch this Hobby (and briefly a second bird) in Cardiff today. Generally perched but moved the second it saw a butterfly. Magpies went from being ok with it to chasing it off for some reason.
