Millions of dollars are being spent on camera towers, drones, ground sensors, and other forms of surveillance tech at the U.S.-Mexico border—all to the detriment of those who live, work, or seek refuge in the borderlands. You can learn more in our zine: www.eff.org/issues/bord....

Government officials refer to surveillance technology at the U.S.-Mexico border as a “virtual wall,” when, in reality, it is a digital dumpster fire for human rights and civil liberties. Hundreds of

Do you know how hard it is to lose the war if you're the United States? It's about as unlikely as bankrupting a casino.
Chris Murphy: "Donald Trump was so fundamentally unprepared for this war that within days of the war starting, our billion dollar air bases and naval bases in the region were obliterated by the Iranians. Every single American should be furious about that."

Quick story. My op-ed on how corporations that kept their DEI programs performed just as well financially was accepted & factchecked at TIME Magazine. Just needed "pro forma review by the legal department." Suddenly the piece is spiked

Why? Benioff owns TIME and wants to ingratiate himself to Trump

No lies detected.
Norway’s former Chief of Defence, General Sverre Diesen:

“Under the current Trump administration, we cannot consider the United States our ally. Trump’s America is a hostile actor that, in the event of a conflict in Europe, would side with Russia rather than with us and other European countries.”

“Companies” do not make decisions.

Humans who hold disproportionate power within them do.

Name the humans and hold them accountable.

There are countless examples of failure on this, including with the bank crisis, Boeing, and tech industry harms.
If A.I. programs “cannot be trusted to work within the law, the companies should not release them,” the editorial board writes. “If the programs break the law, the companies should face the consequences.”

We’re already helping to fund the Russian war effort and we’ve basically ended all other aid to Ukraine. Why the fuck should the Ukrainians care about our threats anymore.
US warned the Ukrainians that Washington might cut off intelligence sharing with Kyiv if it will continue strikes on Russian refineries.

The Americans also informed their Ukrainian counterparts that the US was set to lift sanctions on Russian diesel and that Moscow intended to lift its export ban.

I was reading from either Chiang or Doctorow about how the tech industry has gone hog wild into LLMs because it has *no new ideas.* All the money is in 6 companies that eat rivals just as they bloom; they don't have TIME to become the next Big Thing. They are acquired and killed. Tech has stagnated

Figuring out why Ossoff is so effective is an interesting task.

I think he's mastering a kind of stern dignity that is uniquely compelling in contrast to the clownish cruelty of the other side.

I think the other person who's kind of hit on the same thing is AOC, though in a different register
Ossoff: "I think Pete Hegseth is frankly a deeply unwell person who seems to relish this kind of brutality all the while he's running a department that is falling into chaos. The guy cannot run the military competently and is spending his time with this kind of obscene medieval spectacle."

Says the deciding vote for Hegseth’s appointment. Has Tillis advocated for Hegseth’s impeachment after any one of his committed war crimes? #northcarolina
“.. Beyond disgusting,” Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), a frequent critic of Hegseth, said on X. “Public executions are what oppressive dictatorships like Iran and Afghanistan do. It should not be happening in America.”

Competence vs entitled mediocrity on full display. And, there’s 30-35% of the population that will knowingly choose the latter because…
Jon Ossoff didn’t just show up to debate Mike Collins. He owned the stage.

Calm, confident, prepared, and in complete control. Collins, on the other hand, looked like he regretted showing up.

Trump says 'Let them take out Los Angeles.'

Recall this map: The *entire states* with population smaller than LA County.

Among them they have 80+ US Senators. LA is about 1/3 of Calif's population, which has 2.

Somehow not everyone is aware of fact alluded to below. So one more time:

John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett were all on GWBush 2000 'Florida Recount' team.

(Which made GWB first prez in 112 yrs to 'win' after losing popular vote. Now they 'impartially' rule on our future.)
Let me see if I've got this right. The team of lawyers who stole an election in Florida, and gave W the presidency, are now the Scotus team at the center of the GOP theft of our democracy.

I genuinely believe this accelerated data collection of Americans is baseline kompromat. J. Edgar Hoover’s 50 years of collecting info on prominent Americans got nothing on this. 👇
New: USPS is to put cameras in its trucks that continuously record. This is to gather data on roads, signage, and to improve "community safety," the agency tells me. The cameras are marketed to capture passing license plates too, but don't run ALPR software
