In no way a web of evil
These two WSJ articles on the same day are a reminder that much of the American press heartily approves of the broad openly white supremacist direction of travel and merely wishes the Trump administration would be a little less brazen about looting the state in the process.

I've just emerged blinking from an exhaustive chronicle of the cosmic horrors perpetrated by Chairman Mao, but it has taken only one (1) news item to make me think, "Actually no, it's worth going through all that to make sure we wipe out this interbred parasitic political/media class once & for all"

The only bad thing that I'm prepared to countenance happening regarding this technology is Sam Altman being woodchippered into a fine pulp and sprayed over the assembled ranks of everyone who ever uncritically reported his lies.

"We certainly reckon this might be an act of international terrorism but we've rightly decided to let the suspects out on bail and the most important thing to remember is that 𝘯𝘰-𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦"

I cannot WAIT for the results of the eventual inquiry into whatever the fuck has happened here.

It's explicitly mentioned on Wandsworth's recycling site, which obviously isn't where you're asking about but surely sets a precedent that you can brandish crossly at any local council employee who might say no.

A portrait of someone who doesn't at all want to see brown people rounded up in camps reluctantly conceding that there must be some substance to white racists' legitimate concerns

Yep, that truncated headline's enough for me, I don't need to see any more of it. The fact that you're willingly a credulous sluice for whatever Altman shits out is the actual story here.

Glad to see the arcade still has the old Dickpuncher machine. Happy memories.

Benign neglect (or cowering fear, who cares at this point) of these wannabe pogroms - and the delirious contrast with how readily they slap the "terrorist" label on people who obviously aren't - defines this Labour government in a way that no amount of "leftwing" economic tinkering ever could.

It wouldn't be entirely surprising if among a certain sort of ideologically committed settler it was taken as a given that "Palestinian" includes - or is even restricted to - settlers & soldiers who are *physically in Palestinian territories* as opposed to e.g. Arabs who may originally be from there

But when people lost their minds, they REALLY lost it. I really can't fully express how weird this was, or how genuinely upset and angry at me these - otherwise, I thought, generally not at all royalist - people were.

This assertion in '22 by the director of BBC editorial policy & standards, combined with its private decision to flatter Farage voters, suggests any BBC agnosticism is actually pretty malleable if the belief is touted belligerently enough (and elides with what posh idiots were thinking anyway)

More angry men getting exercised about savings, outside a kind of Buckingham Palace and in a form of Parliament Square respectively. (I'm assuming all these people are cousins, by the way)

Although written in 2018, this book couldn't be more relevant to the current moment. It paints a picture of those manning the commanding heights of British society - academia, media, politics, business - as utterly adrift and, at best, waiting to see what happens or, at worst, to be told what to do.
