Yes, it's very embarrassing, but you can still feel a kind of inner pride at having taken the punishment well, although of course you mustn't show that pride to others, you must remain humble and obedient and contrite. That's how I feel, anyway.

A boy who has admitted his faults and taken his punishment bravely should wear his marks with pride and his Daddy should be proud of him!
