In 2021 the Local History Group were organising a talk to be given by a local celebrity who coached the film "The Dig" on authentic dialects. The Parish Council now holds their considerable archive of local documents.

‪In March 2017 bad parking was a hot issue. WBPC was being proactive - as now with current issues such as safer Colchester Rd and parking at Orpen Hall to help school run parking issues.

Amid concerns about the location of the bus stop in Colchester Rd, the Council approached the Highways Panel for action 6 years ago. Consequently, residents welcomed a new stop, with shelter, that is well used today.
